Olympiad Training Program for the Australian Science Olympiad Examination in Chemistry

The 14 week training program is offered by CEA and The University of Melbourne and covers all concepts in Year 12 Chemistry as well as a significant number of first year university topics to prepare highly able students for the Australian Chemistry Olympiad exam. Students who have attended this program in the past have reviewed it enthusiastically and have achieved excellent results in the Australian Science Examination in Chemistry, with High Distinctions and Distinctions.

6 - 27 March, 24 April - 5 June, 19 June, 17 & 24 July
Cost $300 per student.

New resources for the new VCAA Study Design

The VCE Chemistry page has updated information from the VCAA and many resources for teachers including:

  • suggested timetables for Units 1 - 4
  • suggested practical activities
  • suggested questions to set students from the Pearson Heinemann Chemistry 1 and Chemistry 2 text books
  • copies of workshops from the 2016 Chemistry Conference and the CEA November Lectures workshops 2015 and 2016, with new material, ideas for the practical investigations, possible new SACs and pracs. 

Developmental Workshops for Unit 3 & 4

Workshops to assist planning and development of Unit 3 & 4 programs for the new Chemistry Study Design were run at host schools throughout Victoria in late August, September and early October 2016. Workshops were held in Bairnsdale, Ballarat, Belgrave, Bendigo, Berwick, Bright, Brighton, Charlton, Churchill, Clayton, Coburg, Eltham, Euroa, Geelong (Newtown and Waurn Ponds), Hawthorn, Horsham, Ivanhoe, Keilor Downs, Keilor East, Kew, Mildura, Mt Eliza, Mulgrave, Nathalia, Portland, Ringwood East, South Yarra, Springvale, St Kilda, Swan Hill, Werribee and Wodonga.
