Mark is an outstanding teacher of Chemistry, Environmental Science and Science. He has taught at Mount Waverley Secondary College and Koonung Secondary College, and completed his teaching career with 20 years at MacRobertson Girls' High School. As President of the Science Teachers' Association of Victoria for several years in the 1970s, he organised conferences, conducted workshops and guided the development of science education in the State. He was a contributing writer to Matter Under Investigation, and has co-authored several texts, including Chemistry for Year 11, World of Science and Discovering Science, which have been used widely by students throughout Australia and, in some cases, overseas. Aside from these and other achievements, perhaps Mark's most long lasting contribution to science education has been as a Method Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, where he inspired, encouraged and guided several generations of trainee teachers for 5 years in the 1970s and for a further 10 years more recently. Mark's love for excursions continues today and bushwalking remains a keen interest for him.
