Chris Commons

Chris is a senior member of staff at Scotch College, Hawthorn. He has been actively involved in teaching, curriculum development and assessment for many years and has had extensive teaching experience in government and independent schools and on secondment to the Australian Council for Educational Research and the University of Melbourne as Lecturer in Chemistry Method. Chris has co-authored and edited several Chemistry books, including Demonstrations for Secondary School Chemistry and the ACER Australian Chemistry Test Item Bank. He was the editor of the first three editions of Chemistry Two and a writer for all four editions editions of the text. He has been the Chief Examiner for the Victorian Certificate of Education Chemistry course and an examiner for the Higher School Certificate course. Chris was a member of the VISE, STAV and RACI Chemistry Committees and a past President of CEA. Chris currently teaches the Monash University Enhancement Chemistry course. On weekends he is likely to be found fly fishing on a mountain stream.
